In a thriller the North Dallas Fire Ants staged a dramatic comeback then held
on to win over the Chicago Colts by a score of 12 to 11 at the
ballpark.
North Dallas scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs using 3 hits. Michael Young led off and he delivered a single. Matt
Tolbert followed and he slapped a base-hit. Nelson Cruz then rifled a
three-run blast. After an out was recorded, Marlon Byrd came to the plate
and drew a walk. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 6
times.
Dustin Nippert(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. J.P.
Howell gained credit for his 1st save. The loss was charged to Huston
Street(0-1) in relief.
Street was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'
